Elections 2018: Congressman Alan Lowenthal faces John Briscoe in re-election bid in California’s 47th District

Upsets happen, but In a congressional district that straddles Los Angeles and Orange counties, Democrat Alan Lowenthal is favored to beat Republican John Briscoe on Tuesday, Nov. 6 in the race to represent California’s 47th District.

Lowenthal – a key voice in the documentary “Who Killed the Electric Car?” – was first elected in 2012 to represent a district that includes neighborhoods as diverse as Little Saigon and downtown Long Beach.

Briscoe owns Crestwave Property Management and serves as a trustee for the Ocean View School District. Briscoe took second place in June’s top-two primary over fellow Republican David Clifford. The two Republicans combined to receive nearly 40 percent of the votes in the primary.
