Woman shot, fatally injured in Santa Ana

A woman died after a Santa Ana shooting during the predawn hours of Monday, Nov. 12.

A caller reported that his friend had been shot near the intersection of West 1st Street and North Pacific Avenue at about 1:40 a.m., according to a news release from the Santa Ana Police Department. It said that, a short time later, an unidentified man delivered a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to a nearby hospital, then fled before police arrived.

The woman was declared dead at 2 a.m. Orange County Coroner’s investigators were working to determine her identity, according to the department’s release.

Homicide detectives have not determined a motive for the shooting. They have asked anyone with information that can help in the case to contact Santa Ana police at 714-245-8390. Monday’s homicide was the second reported in Santa Ana in as many days. On Sunday, a man died following a shooting reported near the 1656 W. Wisteria Pl. at about 4:14 p.m.
