91 Express Lanes to close this weekend in Riverside, Orange counties

Intermittent closures are coming to 91 Freeway toll and general-purpose lanes in Riverside and Orange counties over three or four weekends, beginning Friday, Nov. 16.

The closures will allow the Riverside County Transportation Commission to install new transponder technology and repaint express-lane entrance and exit points at the Riverside-Orange county Line, an agency news release states. The planned closures for this weekend are:

Westbound 91 Express Lanes in Riverside County: Closed Friday, Nov. 16, from 9 p.m. to Monday, Nov. 19, at 4 a.m.

Westbound 91 Express Lanes in Orange County: Closed Friday from 9 p.m. to Sunday at noon.

Eastbound 91 Express Lanes in Riverside County and Orange County: Closed Sunday from 4 a.m. to noon.

One to three westbound 91 general-purpose lanes, between the 71 Freeway and 241 toll road: Closed 9 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday.

Drivers are encouraged to take alternate routes.
