Newport Beach police seek 2 additional suspects in Louis Vuitton purse heist from Fashion Island

by in News

Police asked the public on Wednesday, Nov. 28, to help them identify two more suspects in the theft of several Louis Vuitton purses from a luxury department store in Newport Beach earlier in the week.

Three people have been arrested, but two remain at large after attempting to steal $20,000 worth of handbags from the Neiman Marcus department store at the Fashion Island shopping center, 401 Newport Center Dr., just after 4:20 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, according to a news release from the Newport Beach Police Department.

Five suspected thieves fled the mall in a light blue Toyota Camry that was later spotted in Los Angeles.

A spokesman for the California CHP had said that four people were arrested, but Newport Beach Police later said that only three individuals were booked on suspicion of the theft. The two outstanding suspects were similarly described in Monday’s release as men between 18 and 20 years old with black hair. They were dressed in black hoodies, black pants and white shoes at the time of the heist.

Newport Beach police have asked anyone with information that might help lead additional arrests to call detectives at 949-644-3790. Anonymous tips can also be left by dialing 800-550-NBPD.
