405 to close in Westminster for bridge work this weekend

WESTMINSTER – A portion of the San Diego (405) Freeway in Westminster will be fully shut down late Saturday, Dec. 1, for the demolition of a bridge.

Half of the Bolsa Chica Road bridge over the freeway will be razed, requiring the freeway in both directions be closed near Bolsa Chica Road and Valley View Street from 11 p.m. Saturday through 8 a.m. Sunday.

Southbound drivers will be detoured off the freeway at Bolsa Chica Road and led back on at Westminster Boulevard. The northbound detour will begin at Valley View Street as drivers are routed to the Garden Grove (22) Freeway where they can return to the San Diego Freeway.

The work is part of the $1.9 billion project to expand the 405 one lane in each direction between Euclid Street and the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway. The expansion will also include new toll lanes.
