19-year-old Anaheim resident dies in collision in Placentia

A 19-year-old Anaheim resident was killed the morning of Friday, Dec. 7, in a traffic collision in Placentia, the Placentia Police Department said.

The man’s name had not been publicly announced as of Saturday evening.

He was driving a Ford Crown Victoria west on Orangethorpe Avenue when he swerved to avoid a Hyundai Genesis that had pulled out of a residential area, a police news release said. The Ford spun out of control and into the eastbound lanes, where it collided with a Chevrolet Tahoe.

The Ford driver was pronounced dead at the scene in the 100 block of East Orangethorpe. The Chevrolet driver was hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, the release said. No one had been arrested or cited as of Saturday.

Police were dispatched to the incident around 7:52 a.m. They asked witnesses to the collision to call traffic investigators at 714-993-8151.
