Missing Idyllwild man’s body was found short distance from home

by in News

The body of David Bradish, an Idyllwild man whose family said he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, was found a short distance from where he had been living when reported missing Nov. 26, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday.

Deputies said Wednesday that Bradish, 80, was found just after 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 in the San Bernardino National Forest, northeast of Pine Crest Avenue and Chipmunk Drive in Idyllwild.

The Riverside County Coroner had announced Saturday that Bradish’s body had been found.

Bradish was reported missing from a residence near the 54500 block of North Circle Drive by his wife, Linda, on Monday, Nov. 26, his family said.

North Circle Drive becomes Pine Crest Avenue, which in turn becomes Chipmunk Drive as it heads north. The road makes a sharp buttonhook a short distance after the final name change.

The brief statement Wednesday did not say how Bradish was located, or how he may have reached the area where his body was found, approximately one road mile from his residence, according to Google Maps.

Bradish had just moved to Idyllwild after 12 years of living at the Huntington Landmark retirement community in Huntington Beach. He had also previously lived in Long Beach, a family member said.

A Facebook posting from the Hemet Sheriff’s Station, which oversaw the investigation, included  about 25 photos of patches and vehicles from various law enforcement, search-and-rescue outfits, and dog teams that helped in the search for Bradish, along with many volunteering residents of the mountain community.

“The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department would like to recognize all of those who assisted in the search efforts for Mr. Bradish,” the sheriff’s department statement said Wednesday.

Family members of Bradish had posted thanks on Facebook during the search efforts as well. A family member did not respond to email and a phone requests for comment, sent Sunday.
