Fullerton officer shoots, kills charging pit bull while responding to domestic disturbance

A Fullerton police officer, responding to a disturbance call, shot and killed a pit bull dog when the dog charged at him Saturday, Dec. 15, authorities said.

Fullerton officers were responding to a family disturbance in the 100 block of South Turner Avenue about 12:45 p.m. Saturday, Sgt. Carin Wright said in a statement.

When officers arrived, the resident’s pit bull charged one of the officers and he fired his weapon, striking the dog. The dog died at the scene, Wright said.

It wasn’t immediately known how many times the officer fired.
