Man accused of shooting woman, striking another man in face in La Mirada domestic violence assault

by in News

A woman was shot and a man was struck in the face during what sheriff’s deputies described as a domestic violence assault in La Mirada just past midnight on Sunday.

The assault suspect was arrested, but posted bail Sunday, said Lt. Blanca Arevalo of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. His name and city of residence were not immediately available.

Arevalo said the attack took place in the 14900 block of Gagely Drive, a neighborhood ending in a cul-de-sac and rows of apartment complexes.

At around 12:20 a.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to the neighborhood on report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a woman shot once in the upper torso, and a man who was hit in the face.

The suspect was arrested, but it’s not clear where he was found. Arevalo also didn’t have information about whether the assault took place inside a residence or on the street.

Both the man and woman were transported to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries. Their conditions were unknown.

While the suspect and victims went unidentified Sunday, the Norwalk sheriff’s station described the shooting as a domestic violence assault involving a firearm in a statement posted to Twitter.

Booking information for the suspect was not yet available on Sunday, Arevalo said.
