Chipotle’s first Rose Parade float will feature chili flakes, lemons and a rock band

by in News

The ingredients in Chipotle Mexican Grill’s first float in the Rose Parade will be much like the ingredients it uses in its restaurants, the Newport Beach-based chain has announced.

The float, “Cultivate a Better World,” will be trimmed with 200 pounds of chili flakes and 100 pounds of lemons, plus corn, onions, rice, garlic, thyme, jalapeños, bell peppers, tomatoes, avocados, cilantro and lime, according to a news release.

The float depicts a giant red tractor and will be ridden by growers and suppliers for Chipotle’s produce.

The chain has been emphasizing the freshness of its ingredients in an advertising campaign launched since the company acquired new leadership and moved from Colorado to Orange County earlier this year.

Also riding the float will be the rock band Portugal. The Man, which rocked the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio last April. The band will be performing its hits, which include “Feel It Still,” according to the news release.

The 130th Rose Parade steps off at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 1 and follows a 5 1/2 mile route through the streets of Pasadena.
