Vehicle slams into center divider on Garden Grove freeway; one killed
GARDEN GROVE — A man died Sunday, Jan. 6, in a crash on the Garden Grove (22) Freeway in Garden Grove, officials said.
The crash took place on the westbound 22 Freeway at Magnolia Street just before 1 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Four people were in a Honda that crashed into the center divider, according to Garden Grove Fire Department Capt. Thanh Nguyen. He said two of the vehicle’s occupants were taken to a hospital, one of whom died.
He was identified as Quyen Luu, 55, of Baldwin Park, according to Orange County Coroner’s investigator Kelly Keyes. The other person who was hurt in the crash sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, according to Nguyen.
The CHP temporarily shut down all westbound lanes at the accident site. A SigAlert was declared by the CHP at 1:17 a.m. All lanes were cleared by 8:14 a.m., the CHP said.
