WHITTIER — Four people were taken to a hospital Tuesday, including two California Highway Patrol officers, after a stalled vehicle was struck by another vehicle on the 60 Freeway in Whittier, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 2:52 a.m. on the eastbound Pomona Freeway east of the 605 Freeway, CHP Officer Patrick Kimball said.

At least one of the injured may have been a pedestrian, Kimball said. The four injured were taken to County USC Medical Center.

Two of the injured were CHP officers, according to reporters at the scene. They were standing next to the stalled vehicle trying to render assistance.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the other vehicle was arrested, Kimball said, but what he’s suspected of was not immediately revealed.

A SigAlert was issued shutting down all but the HOV lane on the eastbound 60 Freeway. The HOV lane from the 605 to the 60 was reopened. The SigAlert was canceled about 5:35 a.m.
