Anaheim resident Kara Lazauskas has advanced to the semi-finals of “The Titan Games,” the reality-TV competition helmed by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, airing Thursday night on NBC.

The competition is already complete — filmed on a set built at the Irwindale Speedway — and the winners have been decided, but contestants are sworn to secrecy about the results until the episodes are aired. If Lazauskas advanced to the finals, viewers can see her on that telecast on Thursday, Feb. 28.

Lazauskas, 27, is finishing up her Masters Degree in Muscle Physiology at Cal State Fullerton.  She said her hope is to help athletes and servicemen and women to perform at the highest level.

“I’ve always had people doubting me throughout because of all the physical limitations I’ve had,” said Lazauskas, who had her left lung removed at the age of 3 and underwent four surgeries on her right knee. “This has given me a second chance of getting to show people who I am and what I’m all about.”

Lazauskas’ first episode pitted in the competition Lazauskas against Breona Evans, an accountant from Atlanta.

Lazauskas easily defeated Evans — and even helped her finish the challenge.

Later, Evans’ fiance proposed to her during the taping. “You’re the real winner tonight,”  Lazauskas told Evans after the happy moment.

Next, Lazauskas defeated fitness model and trainer Shannon Decker of Santa Monica for a trip to the show’s “Elite Eight.”

“I just was so happy to be moving on,” said Lazauskas. “I was able to celebrate with my friends and ‘go ape’ after I advanced.”

Lazauskas visited Community Charter Early College High School in Sylmar on Wednesday to speak to PE classes.

“Kara was amazing,” said freshman Jasmin Bello. “She was so inspiring to me and I’m so glad she came.”

After earning her Masters Degree, Lazauskas will travel to South Africa to take part in the Hoops for Hope program, teach basketball skills to kids living in poverty.
