Authorities have opened an investigation into the death of a man whose body was found in a flood control channel near the Seal Beach and Huntington Beach National Wildlife Refuge on Thursday, March 14.

A construction worker made the discovery at the base of a wash near the intersection of Edinger Avenue and Bolsa Chica Street at about 1:40 p.m., according to Seal Beach Police Department Sgt. Michael Henderson. He described the man an adult white male.

Henderson said it’s unclear whether foul play was involved, and officials did not immediately say if he appeared to have suffered any sort of injuries. Officials were working to identify the man as of Thursday evening.
