Carbon Canyon Road in Chino Hills partially re-opens after crew strikes gas line

by in News

One-way traffic control in both directions began on Carbon Canyon Road in Chino Hills Wednesday morning, after a temporary closure caused by road-repair crews striking a gas line Monday night, Caltrans authorities said.

Caltrans officials said the incident took place Monday around 10 p.m. on Carbon Canyon Road near Felspar Drive, prompting the temporary closure of the road.

With the road re-opening, but with restrictions, traffic was expected to be slow. Officials advised motorists to use alternate routes if possible.

There were no evacuation orders in place or disruptions in gas service, Southern California Gas said in a press release.

“Nearby residents may notice the smell of natural gas,” the SoCalGas statement said. “This does not present a health or safety risk to the community. Once the flow of gas is stopped, SoCalGas will be working at the site to make permanent repairs.”

It wasn’t clear Wednesday morning when the road would fully re-opened.
