Heavy police presence at Costco in Corona

by in News

Dozens of police and fire personnel swarmed Costco in Corona Friday night, June 14, although few details were immediately available.

Reports of shots fired near the location at 480 N McKinley Street spread on social media just after 8 p.m.

Will Lungo, 45, of Corona, said he and his wife were near the refrigerated produce and alcohol sections when he heard gunshots.

“I thought maybe someone dropped a bottle of wine, but then I kept hearing shots,” Lungo said.

Lungo said he didn’t hear any arguing, but did hear roughly six shots. He and his wife ran into a refrigerator to take shelter.

“An employee came in and helped us out through the emergency exit,” he said. “We didn’t see anything.”

Police were looking through several cars in the parking lot, according to Lungo.

It’s not yet known how many victims there are.

The shopping center also includes other major stories, including a Home Depot and restaurants.
