by in News

PIH Health, a company based in Whittier, has acquired Pioneer Medical Group and all of its assets, including eight medical offices in the Long Beach area and 36,000 patients

The nonprofit health care network, on Washington Boulevard, announced the acquisition Monday, July 1, effective the same day. The nonprofit will rebrand the eight Pioneer Medical Group office buildings as PIH Health Physicians.

PIH declined to disclose how much it cost to buy Pioneer Medical Group.

Those offices are in the Los Angeles County cities of Long Beach (2220 Clark Ave.), Lakewood (5750 Downey Ave., Suite 205), Downey (12214 Lakewood Blvd., Suite 110), Cerritos (16510 Bloomfield Ave.), Bellflower (10251 Artesia Blvd. and 10234 Rosecrans Ave.) and South Gate (4476 Tweedy Blvd.), and Orange County’s Los Alamitos (3851 Katella Ave., Suite 155).

PIH Health President Brian Smolskis said in a statement that his company wants to have a smooth transition and that patients should not see any interruptions in their care. PIH Health will accept all insurance plans accepted by Pioneer Medical Group.

“We look forward,” Smolskis said, “to being a trusted partner in the health and wellness of our newest patients.”

Prior to the acquisition, PIH Health had more than 170 primary care physicians and more than 200 specialists. Gaining Pioneer Medical Group’s staff garnered the organization another 46 total physicians.

With the eight new locations, PIH Health now has 29 medical office buildings in the region.

Existing Pioneer Medical Group patients with questions about the transition can call 562-967-2600, extension 81098.
