Curt Seeden: Fountain Valley Concerts in the Park series to kick off July 11

by in News

Fountain Valley’s annual Concerts in the Park series is a longstanding tradition.

This year’s series will begin Thursday, July 11 and continue on July 18 and 25, as well as Aug. 1.

If you like tribute bands, you should love this year’s lineup from the city’s Recreation and Community Services Department.

You’ll hear the sounds of Journey, lots of Motown favorites, the Beatles and Garth Brooks.

Here’s the lineup:

July 11: Lights Touring, a tribute to Journey. The band gets its name from “Lights,” a song recorded by Journey and written by Steve Perry and Neal Schon, released in 1978.

July 18: Stone Soul, performing classic Motown hits.

July 25: Hard Day’s Night, saluting The Beatles. The evening also will feature a recognition of Special Olympics California’s 50th anniversary, including a parade of champions.

Aug. 1: That Garth Guy, a tribute to Garth Brooks

Concerts are free and run from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fountain Valley Recreation Center and Sports Park, 16400 Brookhurst St.

The Aug. 1 concert will be held in conjunction with the annual Fountain Valley Chamber of Commerce Business Expo. Local businesses can have a vendor space at the expo from 5 to 8 p.m. Cost is $75 for chamber members and $125 for non-members.

More information about the Business Expo is available by calling the chamber office at 714-962-3822.
