Police seek 2 suspects in back-to-back Santa Ana armed robberies

by in News

Police released a video Wednesday of one of two armed robberies that took place in Santa Ana on Thursday, July 4, in hopes of identifying a pair of suspects seen in the surveillance footage.

The heist captured by security cameras happened at M & Toi Cafe, 4702 W. 1st St., at about 7:09 a.m., Santa Ana police said in a statement. Footage shows people inside the business raise their arms into the air as a man brandishing a pistol approaches a clerk who was standing behind a counter. He leaves on foot with a bag full of money from the cash register as a second armed suspect serves as a lookout.

Investigators believe the same two men walked into Dey’s Doughnuts, 630 S. Euclid St. about 10 minutes later and committed a similar robbery, police said. Both suspects were described as either Latino or Asian men between the ages of 20 and 30, standing between 5 foot 6 inches and 5 foot 10 inches tall in the release.

The suspect who approached the cash register held a silver and black handgun, and wore a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, black gloves and glasses, police said in the release. The lookout wore a black hooded sweatshirt, and carried a black pistol.
