Deputies arrest man accused of breaking into Aliso Viejo retirement community

by in News

Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 20-year-old man who they say broke into an Aliso Viejo retirement community and intended to commit a sexual assault.

At about 4:20 am. on Wednesday, July 31, a nurse at the retirement community was alerted to an 84-year-old in distress, sheriff’s spokeswoman Carrie Braun said. The nurse and a security guard found the suspect inside the woman’s home holding a pair of scissors.

The woman was in bed, Braun said. The suspect, identified later as Jorge Hernandez Saucedo Jr., stabbed the nurse in the hand and then fled, authorities said. The nurse was taken to the hospital, treated and released.

On the way to the 4:30 a.m. call, one deputy noticed a person a few blocks from the retirement community who matched the description of the suspect. The deputy detained the person and he was identified as Saucedo, Braun said.

Saucedo, of Laguna Niguel, was booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of burglary with intent to commit sexual assault.

He was being held in lieu of $1 million.
