Pedestrian struck while crossing street in San Clemente

A traffic collision involving a pedestrian in San Clemente sent one person to a hospital Thursday, Oct. 24.

The crash happened at about 8:17 p.m. in the area of Camino Mira Costa and Camino De Estrella, Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Wayne Rehnelt said. One person was struck and injured while crossing the street. It was not immediately clear if the collision happened in or outside of a crosswalk.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, and remained in treatment as of 10:30 p.m., Rehnelt said. Details regarding the severity of that person’s injuries were not released Thursday evening.

The driver involved in the collision remained at the scene with investigators, Rehnelt said. It was not immediately clear if drugs of alcohol had played a role in the incident, which was under investigation.
