Investigation launched after man found dead in Dana Point apartment

Homicide detectives began to investigate the death of a man after a neighbor found his body inside a Dana Point apartment on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

The neighbor saw the man’s body through the man’s front door, which was left open, and then phoned authorities, said Orange County Sheriff’s Department Spokeswoman Carrie Braun.

Deputies arrived at the apartment located in the 24000 block of La Cresta Drive at about 2:30 p.m., authorities said.

Identified by authorities only as a man in his 50s, officials pronounced him dead at the scene.

Investigators declined to say whether there were trauma wounds on the body.
