Crews stop growth of fire at Brea Dam area in Fullerton; some lanes of Harbor Boulevard closed
Crews stopped the forward progress of a fire that burned near the Brea Dam in Fullerton, prompting brief evacuations on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Flames consumed between one to two acres of light brush near the 1700 block of Harbor Boulevard, Fullerton Fire Division Chief Kathy Schaefer said. It was initially spotted in a grassy area behind the dam at about 3:44 p.m., Fullerton Police Lt. Tony Bogart said.
Schaefer said a few businesses were temporarily evacuated just south of St Jude’s Medical Center due to smoke and embers from the fire.

Harbor Boulevard was shut down to two lanes on each side between Bastanchury Road and Brea Boulevard. Multiple ground and air crews responded to the fire, and stopped forward progress of the fire as of about 4:30 p.m., Schaefer said.
Evacuations were lifted at around 5:15 p.m., fire officials said.
“We did have a strike team go into a nearby neighborhood just because embers and smoke were going into that area, but people just sheltered-in-place,” Schaefer said
