Former Saugus High students, Santa Clarita community react to school shooting
A 16-year-old female and 14-year-old male were killed and at least three others injured after a suspected shooter opened fire at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita on Thursday, November 14.
The Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s Station announced just before 8:30 a.m. that all schools in the district were put on lockdown as a precaution.
People living in the area, parents with children in nearby schools and former Saugus High students took to Twitter to react to the news.
I am terrified for everyone at Saugus High School. It’s 10 minutes from my home. I have good friends that go to school there, they are twins. Max got walked to the nearby park. Madison saw the shooting and ran to a room with no lock, she baracaded herself in. #SaugusHigh

My 17 year old brother is on lockdown at Valencia High School because there was a shooting at Saugus High School nearby. He is currently safe but just texted “I love you” to family because this is absolutely terrifying.

I just spoke to my Sister and she told me that my Niece is currently in lockdown at Saugus High School. I can’t stop shaking.

I am beyond devastated by the school shooting that happened at Saugus High School today, and it’s so hard being across the country from my family right now. I am blessed that both my mom and sister are safe, and I pray for all of the students that had to go through this

I graduated from Saugus High School, and today, brought my kids home from school rather than have them be locked down, and then at home our daughter still asks if she’s safe. It just shouldn’t be.

For those reaching out privately, all of my kids are safe. Both of my daughters witnessed the shooting at Saugus High School. At this moment, my son is still in lockdown, but surrounded by police and safe.

The shooting at Saugus High School has shaken me to my core. Those students very well could have been me just 2 years ago. This is not okay. This is not normal. There needs to be serious change in this country if this is going to stop.

Shooting at Saugus High School. This is right next to my daughter’s preschool. I never thought it would hit this close to home. Terrifying that this is something we have to worry about. Thank goodness we were lucky enough to be out of town.

The teacher I work with has children that attend Saugus high school and it’s really heartbreaking to see her cry. I pray for everyone’s safety, and I’m sorry young innocent lives have to go through this. All this “shooting” needs to STOP.

I grew up in Santa Clarita my whole life. I went to Saugus High School all 4 years. It was one of the safest cities and High Schools in California. That doesn’t matter though because in America, any school can have an active shooter shoot 7 kids at any moment #ThisIsAmerica
