TUSTIN —  A man was killed and his 17-year-old female passenger was injured Saturday when his car slammed into a home in Tustin, according to police.

The crash happened at 2:24 a.m. in the 13000 block of Iroquois, Tustin Police Lt. Andrew Birozy said.

Responding officers found a man and teen inside the vehicle. Isaac Hernandez Lazaro, 20, of Tustin was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. He was not wearing a seatbelt, they said.

The girl who was injured was taken to a hospital, Birozy said. She was wearing a seatbelt, police said.

According to police, the driver was going eastbound on San Juan Street at a high rate of speed. The car went through the intersection at Browning Avenue, crashed through a cinder block wall and then into the house, Birozy said. Investigators were looking at the possibility that drugs and/or alcohol may have played a role in the accident.

The people who owned the house were home at the time of the crash, Birozy said. Several people inside the home suffered minor injuries from flying debris. However, none of those injured in the home were hospitalized.

The home’s owner Tito Perez told KTLA5 that his daughter had some friends over for a sleepover, but they escaped serious injury.
