by in News

A drive-by shooting in Anaheim left a 14-year-old boy hospitalized on Saturday evening, authorities said.

The 14-year-old and two other teenage boys were walking in the area of Orange Avenue and South Western Avenue around 5:30 p.m. when a dark-colored sedan pulled up next to the group, said Sgt. Shane Carringer, spokesman for the Anaheim Police Department.

There were four people inside the car, one of whom pointed a gun at the boys, fired at least one shot, then drove away, Carringer said. One of the bullets hit the 14-year-old boy in the torso.

Paramedics transported the boy to UCI Medical Center for treatment. Authorities expect him to survive.

No other injuries were reported in the shooting, which is believed to be gang-related, according to detectives.
