Police investigate after man found wounded, dies in Santa Ana restaurant parking lot

Santa Ana police were investigating the death of a man who was found wounded in the parking lot of a taco restaurant early Tuesday.

It was just before 12:50 a.m. when police were called about a body in the parking lot of Navarro’s Taqueria on South Standard Avenue near Edinger Avenue, Santa Ana police said.

Officers found the man wounded with by possible gunshots, said Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.

Paramedics tried to save the man but he was pronounced dead at the scene at about 1 a.m. The coroner was still working to identify the man, possibly in his 50s, and confirm his manner of death, Bertagna said.

Investigators did not have descriptions of any suspects or details about what led to the killing.

“Somebody called us to say there was a body there and we don’t know who that is,” Bertagna said. “We’re hoping someone can come forward with information.”
