Woman sentenced to 6 months for rampage at Maggiano’s restaurant at South Coast Plaza

A 27-year-old Fullerton woman has been sentenced to six months in jail for her part in a rampage last year through a South Coast Plaza restaurant.

Passion Shenay Coleman pleaded guilty to single counts each of criminal threats, assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy, as well as two counts of vandalism, all felonies. Coleman also pleaded guilty to assault, battery, wearing a mask in a crime, brandishing a weapon and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors.

Coleman, who has been in custody since Oct. 5, was sentenced to 180 days in jail and is set to be released soon. She made her plea in a special court that helps defendants with drug abuse issues.

She is a former employee of Maggiano’s Little Italy restaurant at the Costa Mesa shopping center, the eatery that she rampaged through with co- defendant Laglennda Damona Carr, 24, of Fullerton, according to police.

Carr is charged with second-degree burglary, vandalism and conspiracy, all felonies, as well as misdemeanor counts of wearing a mask in a crime and resisting arrest. She is next due in court Feb. 25 for a pretrial hearing in the West Justice Center in Westminster.

Police said the two went into the restaurant at 3333 Bristol St. on Oct. 5 and vandalized a TV, table settings and plates, causing thousands of dollars in damage. According to Costa Mesa police, the vandalism attack forced the restaurant to cancel its dinner reservations that night.

Coleman showed up at the restaurant about 11:40 a.m. on Oct. 5, making threats and hurling a plate at a restaurant employee before running away, police said.
