Suspect killed, officer hurt in shooting in Garden Grove

A suspect was killed in an officer-involved shooting Wednesday morning in Garden Grove and the officer was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers arrived at the scene of a traffic crash near Harbor Boulevard and Trask Avenue about 1:25 a.m., said Lt. Ray Bex of the Garden Grove Police Department.

“Upon contacting one of the parties involved in the collision, an altercation between that subject and an officer occurred resulting in an officer-involved shooting,” Bex said.

Both the officer and the suspect were taken to a hospital, where the suspect died.

Garden Grove police detectives and investigators from the Orange County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the shooting.
