Orange County man accused of having sex with minors, making child pornography

by in News

An Orange County man accused of traveling out of state to have sex with minors and recording at least one of the encounters surrendered Tuesday to federal agents, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Federal prosecutors say Daniel Seibert, 28, of Lake Forest has agreed to plead guilty to three child exploitation-related charges, including production of child pornography, travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct and use of interstate commerce to induce a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity.

According to a plea deal, Seibert from March 29 to April 2 of last year “enticed minors to engage in sex acts with him, traveled for the purpose of engaging in sex acts with minors and produced videos of him engaging in sex acts with minors – one as young as six years old.”

Prosecutors allege that Seibert traveled to Michigan to have sex with the six-year-old girl. According to the plea agreement, the girl’s mother “attempted to render (the girl) unconscious using over-the-counter drugs before having (Seibert) engage in sex acts with (the victim).”

Investigators later discovered images depicting Seibert’s alleged abuse of the girl, whose mother is facing multiple child sexual abuse charges in Oregon state court, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Among the other alleged victims cited in the court filing is a 14-year-old girl that prosecutors say Seibert met on the internet before traveling to Utah to “engage in illicit sexual conduct.”

During a search of Seibert’s residence, agents with Homeland Security Investigations discovered “more than 180 images and 19 videos of child exploitation,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Seibert is scheduled to appear Wednesday in federal court.
