Police investigate fatal shooting of man in Santa Ana

Police were investigating the fatal shooting of a man found on a sidewalk in Santa Ana early Monday morning, officials said.

At around 1:50 a.m., officers responded to a call of a shooting with a man down in the 1700 Block of West 5th Street, Santa Ana police said in a Monday statement. When they arrived, officers found the man with multiple gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Suspect information was not available and a motive for the shooting was unknown. The victim’s identity was not yet released.
