Man found fatally shot in Laguna Beach condominium

by in News

A shooting at a condominium in Laguna Beach left one person dead early Tuesday, July 28.

A resident of the Laguna Lido Condominiums at 31755 Coast Highway called 911 and reported hearing the sound of glass breaking, then gunshots at about 5:19 a.m., Laguna Beach Police Department officials said in a news release. Officers responded, and found a man inside a second-floor unit with a shattered window who had been shot.

Paramedics were summoned, but the victim died before they could arrive, police said. He was described as a man in his mid-40s who is a part-time resident of Laguna Beach. His identity was withheld Tuesday evening, pending the notification of his relatives by coroner’s officials.

“This is the first homicide in Laguna Beach since August 2019,” police said in their release.

A detailed description of any possible suspect was not available Tuesday evening, and further details were not immediately shared with the public. Authorities asked anyone with information that might aid investigators to call Laguna Beach Police Det. Drake at 949-497-0767, or Det. Butterfield at 949-497-0373.
