Motorcyclist dies after crashing into tree

“Westminster man died at hospital after losing control of motorcycle.”

LAKE FOREST – A 43-year-old man was killed in a solo motorcycle crash Wednesday after crashing his motorcycle into a tree, authorities said.

The motorcyclist was taken to Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills, where he was pronounced dead at 3:20 p.m. Coroner’s officials identified the man as John Hodo, of Westminster.

The crash was initially reported at 2:52 p.m., said Lt. Ted Boyne of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Authorities were called to the northwest corner of Los Alisos and Muirlands Boulevard.

Hodo was reported to have lost control of his 2007 Honda motorcycle and crashed into a tree. He was taken to the hospital in grave condition by paramedics, Boyne said.

The crash is under investigation.
