The fire, in a canyon area north of Moreno Valley, blackened 350 acres Thursday after flames from a trailer fire spread to nearby brush and led to evacuations in the rural community.

Those evacuations were lifted at 9 p.m. Thursday as officials announced the fire was 10 percent contained.

The trailer fire was reported about 1 p.m. in the 9300 block of Reche Canyon Road and quickly grew due to strong Santa Ana winds, officials said.

As of Friday morning, 91 firefighters were battling the fire in steep, hilly terrain. Two air tankers and a helicopter were helping in the firefight.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damaged structures and the cause of the fire was under investigation.

Nearby in the city of Calimesa, the Sandalwood fire roared through a mobile home park Thursday, scorching hundred of acres and leading to at least one death.
