Officials identify father and 6-year-old son stuck and killed in Garden Grove crash
The Orange County coroner’s office released the names of a father and son on Monday, Oct. 14, who were struck and killed by a pickup truck while walking in Garden Grove over the weekend.
Eric Molina, 6, and his father, Jorge, 61, were the pedestrians who died in the collision on Saturday, Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney said. Both Garden Grove residents were pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash happened about 8:50 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Garden Grove Boulevard and Benton Street. The driver of the 2008 Ford F-250 involved in the crash was alone in the vehicle, waited for emergency responders to arrive and did not show signs of intoxication, Whitney said. He added that the motorist, also a Garden Grove resident, appeared deeply traumatized by the incident.
“The guy was an emotional wreck when this happened, and deeply sorry that the collision occurred,” Whitney said.
An investigation into the matter was ongoing.
