Authorities identify man whose body washed ashore in Long Beach

by in News

Authorities on Tuesday, Oct. 15, identified a body that washed ashore in Long Beach last week as that of 21-year-old Juan Barrios of Pico Rivera.

Long Beach lifeguards were flagged down by beachgoers about 5:45 p.m., Oct. 9, after they found a body that had washed onto shore near 55th Place and Ocean Boulevard in Belmont Shore, authorities said.

Barrios was found along the waterline of Belmont Shore Beach on the Alamitos Peninsula, Capt. Jack Crabtree of the Long Beach Fire Department said.

Authorities do not suspect foul play, police said. The coroner has not yet determined cause of death.

Authorities originally thought the body might have been that of a missing person out of Orange County, but coroner’s officials said the following day that was not the case.
