Only 1 lane of southbound 15 Freeway in Wildomar open as emergency roadwork is underway

by in News

Two lanes on the southbound 15 Freeway in Wildomar were shut down on Monday, Oct. 21, so Caltrans could make emergency repairs to a broken concrete slab there.

The emergency repairs are expected to continue into the evening and overnight, which means it will cause some extra delays for evening commuters.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the defective slab was spotted shortly after 9 a.m. in the No. 3 lane of the southbound 15 Freeway at Clinton Keith Road.

Officers closed the lane, and a SigAlert was issued. Caltrans requested an emergency replacement of the slab by an on-call contractor, and the decision was made to close the No. 2 lane, as well, for public safety, according to Caltrans officials.

Only the fast lane is open between Lake Elsinore and Murrieta.

Officials said the earliest the lane closures may be lifted will be around midnight, and they asked motorists to consider alternate routes, including the 215 Freeway and Highway 74.
