Surveillance video released of suspects in weekend Irvine home invasion robbery that left 1 dead
IRVINE — Police Monday released surveillance video and images of two suspects being sought in a residential robbery attempt that left a 20-year-old Irvine resident dead.
Officers were called about 5:45 a.m. Saturday to a residence on Bayleaf Lane. The first officers on scene encountered a man who reported he had been assaulted, and that another victim was inside the residence.
Raymond Alcala was found inside the home with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Irvine police Cmdr. Noelle Smiley.

The other victim’s injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to police.
Investigators believe the two suspects intended to rob the victims in their home, Smiley said.
Police said they believe it was an “isolated incident and there is no known danger to the community.”
Anyone with information helpful to investigators — including the identity of the suspects — was asked to call the police tip line at 949-724-7394.
