Victim dies days after Huntington Beach shooting, suspect may face murder charges

by in News

A 29-year-old defendant charged with shooting a man in Huntington Beach a week ago is expected to face a murder charge after the victim died over the weekend, officials said Monday, Oct. 28.

Dennis Tri Gia Dang of Westminster is accused of shooting 48-year-old Linh Ho of Fountain Valley at about 12:15 p.m. Oct. 20 at Magnolia Street and Warner Avenue. Police have not discussed a possible motive in the shooting.

The victim was left comatose, and eventually died Saturday night, authorities said.

Dang pleaded not guilty last week to an attempted murder charge, and is due back at the West Justice Center in Westminster for a pretrial hearing on Wednesday, at which time the allegation against him is expected to be modified to murder.

Casey Ngo, 31, of the unincorporated Orange County community Midway City, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder last week, but was released from custody. Prosecutors asked police to do further investigation before they consider filing charges against him.
