Fire crews had finished putting out a fire near the Brea Dam just hours earlier when a brush fire broke out near Gilbert Street and Castlewood Drive.
Gilbert Street was closed from Rosencrans Avenue to Imperial Highway. CBS Los Angeles reported the new fire had grown to 15 acres by about 8:30 p.m.
Homes in the immediate area were being evacuated, the Fullerton Police Department said on social media just before 8 p.m. Those who need to be evacuated will be contacted by police.
