Bike rider hit by Lexus, seriously hurt

A woman riding a bicycle suffered serious injuries when she was struck by a Lexus on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

The collision occurred at about 12:47 p.m. on Santiago Canyon Road at Lomas Peak Road, the California Highway Patrol said.

The woman, who was wearing a helmet, was riding south on Santiago Canyon when she was hit by the Lexus, said Capt. Marc Stone with the Orange County Fire Authority.

She was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, Stone added.

The driver and passenger in the Lexus remained at the scene as authorities investigated the crash.
