Skateboarder, 13, hit by car

A 13-year-old boy suffered head injuries and was airlifted to a hospital after he was hit by a car while skateboarding across a Victorville street against a red light, according to San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials.

The accident happened Tuesday at Third Avenue and Nisqualli Road.

The teen was hit by a Toyota Tercel that had entered the intersection on a green light and had the right of way, sheriff’s spokeswoman Karen Hunt said in a written statement. The 19-year-old driver and her 22-year-old passenger were not hurt.

The skateboarder is expected to recover, according to the statement. At the hospital, the boy was coherent and talking with his family.
