4 people hurt when vehicle crashes into chicken restaurant in Anaheim

by in News

Two women and two children were injured when a vehicle crashed into a chicken restaurant in Anaheim on Friday afternoon, police said.

At 1 p.m., officers responded to the crash at a shopping center on Lincoln Avenue near Empire Street, said Anaheim Sgt. Shane Carringer. The vehicle did not strike anyone but hit a glass window that shattered, injuring people inside. He described the injuries as minor.

The driver, who was unlicensed, confused the gas pedal and brake as he pulled into a parking stall, according to Carringer.

Video of the incident showed that the man pulled into the parking stall at a slow speed but then accelerated instead of stopping to park, Carringer said.

The driver was cooperative with police and was not determined to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Carringer said. The man, who was released at the scene, will be cited for driving without a license, but investigators will continue to look into the incident to decide whether other charges should be brought, police said.
