80-year-old pedestrian hit by car in Anaheim dies

“80-year-old man was not in crosswalk when he was hit, police said”

An 80-year-old man died a day after he was struck by a car while crossing a busy Anaheim Street, police said.

Nick Hagali, of Anaheim, was crossing Brookhurst Street near Ball Road on Wednesday morning when he was struck by a black Acura. Hagali was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he died Thursday night as a result of his injuries, said Anaheim police Sgt. Rick Martinez.

Hagali, who lived in the neighborhood, was walking west on Brookhurst and made it more than halfway across when he was hit by the Acura, Martinez said.

“It appears he was crossing the street improperly, not in a crosswalk,” Martinez said.

The driver of the Acura remained at the scene and was not cited.

The investigation is continuing.
