Student Killed Weeks Before Graduation

A North County community is mourning the death of a 22-year-old college student who grew up in Carlsbad.

Danielle Wolf died on Thursday, May 6 in a Los Angeles County car crash that killed four people. Before the accident, police say the group was riding in a yellow Corvette. The driver was reportedly speeding when the car hit a guardrail and then a light pole before flipping over.

None of the four passengers survived.

Wolf graduated from La Costa Canyon High School in Carlsbad. She then enrolled at Cal State Northridge where she was planning on receiving her degree later this month.

“It’s tough,” said Brooklyn Anderson, one friend. “It’s tough to deal with.”

As friends and family deal with the tragic loss, they’re also trying to remember Wolf’s fun spirit and passion for life.

“When I heard, I was most definitely shocked and upset about it,” said Anderson. “I will always remember her as a great friend. She was so approachable and fun.Friends say Wolf loved and practiced modern dance. Years ago she took part in a class offered by the city of Carlsbad. Even back then, Anderson said, Wolf’s talent was obvious.
“Because she inspired me, I am now assistant teaching dance classes,” she said.

Wolf was part of Cal State’s Northridge Alpha Phi sorority. In the college newspaper, “The Daily Sundial,” her parents issued the following statement:

“Our daughter, Danielle Wolf, loved her college years at CSUN, especially the time she spent in her sorority Alpha Phi, the friends she made, and the memories that she’ll always have with her. We know that Danielle cherished each and every one of her CSUN friends and we thank you for supporting her during her college experience.”

Sorority sisters are planning a memorial service at Northridge next week.

Investigators are still trying to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
