Body washes ashore in Long Beach; may be man reported missing in Orange County

by in News

A body that washed onto shore in Long Beach on Wednesday, Oct. 9, may have belonged to a man reported missing in Orange County, officials said.

Lifeguards patrolling in the area of 55th Place and Ocean Boulevard were flagged down by people who had discovered the body at about 5:45 p.m., Long Beach Fire Department Capt. Jack Crabtree said. The person who died was found along the waterline of Belmont Shore Beach on the Alamitos Peninsula.

Details regarding that person’s identity were not immediately released. However, the body found Wednesday appeared to match the description of a person who went missing in Orange County, Crabtree said.

No foul play was expected, Long Beach Police Lt. Marcus Hodge said.
