Suspect evades capture following hours-long Orange standoff

by in News

Authorities surrounded a building in Orange while looking for a suspect, but found it unoccupied after conducting a search on Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Deputies attempted to serve a narcotics-related warrant in the area of East Barkley Avenue and North Hart Street at about 2:22 p.m., Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Wayne Rehnelt said. A SWAT team spent several hours attempting to persuade someone they thought had been barricaded inside of the building to surrender, but did not find the person they were looking for after entering and searching structure.

“Apparently he ran out of the building before we got it surrounded,” Rehnelt said.

OCSD personnel concluded their operation at about 5 p.m. Road closures in the area related to the search were lifted at about 5:30 p.m., Orange Police said.

Details regarding any crime the wanted person is suspected of were not immediately released.
