Man on his way to hospital with gunshot wound dies after Orange crash

by in News

A man who was being driven to a hospital with a gunshot wound died after the car he riding in crashed in Orange, police said.

It was about 11:17 p.m. on Thursday night, August 6, when officers arrived to the crash site at Chapman Avenue and Tustin Street, police said.

Inside one of the cars they found multiple people including a man with a gunshot wound, said Orange police Lt. Jennifer Amat. Those in the car were taking him to the hospital, Amat said.

Amat did not have details Monday about what prompted the crash.

No one was injured in the collision but the gunshot victim was taken to a hospital where he died.

Investigators believe the shooting happened somewhere else and could be gang-related, Amat said. They are treating this as a homicide though no arrests have been made.

Those riding in the car with the victim were questioned at the scene then released.

The second car involved in the crash was unrelated to the shooting, police said.

Police ask anyone with information to call 714-744-7444.
