A 19-year-old accused of driving twice the speed limit before her sedan loaded with seven people crashed in Tustin, fatally injuring  two teenage passengers, has been charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter, officials said Wednesday.

Josselyn Jazmine Anguiano, 19, of Santa Ana was charged on Nov. 27 with two felony counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and one count of child endangerment by caretaker, according to a news release from the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. It said she also faces sentencing enhancements for causing great bodily injury after she allegedly lost control of a speeding Infiniti M37 that struck several concrete and steel poles before rolling onto its side on the afternoon of March 23.

Two students of Century High School in Santa Ana, Jason Anguiano and Pedro Fuentes, both 17, died as a result of the collision. The defendant and four other people in the wrecked sedan were also injured. At the time, investigators said they did not believe drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.

However, the vehicle was allegedly moving 75 mph while attempting to turn onto a street with a 35 mph speed limit, according to the release from the District Attorney’s office. It said the five-passenger vehicle was carrying two more people than it was meant to accommodate when it hit a curb at 47 mph and spun out, prosecutors said.

Josselyn Anguiano was arrested on Nov. 29 and was later released from the Orange County Women’s Central Jail after posting bail, according to court records. She is scheduled to appear for an arraignment on Thursday, Dec. 27. If convicted, she could face as many as 10 years and four months in state prison.
